Not Your Typical AI

Welcome Kylie Hillman!

Let’s learn about your character(s).

What is your main character’s favorite color? Mik “Mad Dog” Kennedy- Black, Maddi O’Brien- Royal Blue

What is your main character’s book? They have two. They are the main characters in Seizing Control, Black Shamrocks MC #1 and Tempting Fate, Black Shamrocks MC Book #4. They appear in every book in the series as well in an overarching storyline.

What is your main character’s movie?  Mad Dog- Easyrider, Maddi- Legally Blonde. Read Seizing Control and you’ll get the joke 😉

What is your main character’s favorite ice cream flavor? Mad Dog- Neapolitan, Maddi- Cappuccino

What was your main character’s favorite grade level/year in school?   Mad Dog- Year Twelve (thank fuck it was over), Maddi- every year was better than the last

What kind of underwear does your villain prefer? Brendan wears boxer-briefs

Would your main character’s crush/sig. other win survivor by strength, by cheating, or not at all? Strength, all the way! Mik is tough to the max.

If your main character was a drink, what would they be? Mad Dog- the strongest Moonshine, Maddi- Expresso Grande

Does your main character get road rage? (If they drive at all)?  Both suffer from it and aren’t afraid to let the other drivers know about their displeasure.

What’s the one thing your main character can’t live without? Each other. Can we say co-dependant lol.

What is your main character’s idea of romance? Non-existent. Romance, what romance? Although, that might change in Tempting Fate.
Your main character’s favorite season? Why? Summer. Best weather to ride.
What’s your main character(s) favorite material item? Why? Their Harley’s. Nothing is more freeing than the wind on your face and nothing more than three inches of rubber between you and death.

Is your main character a dog or cat person? Dog.
Main character’s favorite sexual position? Whatever works against the closest flat surface!
Villain’s favorite sexual position? Missionary, easiest position to abuse from.

Thank you so much for sharing about your characters, now tell us about you.

Have you ever written naked? Yes, more than I should admit. Getting dressed is overrated.
What do you believe is your biggest failure? Letting fear of other people’s opinions hold me back until now. It’s been freeing to realise that it’s impossible to please everyone so I should only concentrate on pleasing myself and the ones who look out for me. I’ve found the ones who whine the loudest are the ones who support you the least…so why should their opinion matter so much?
Do you have any scars? What are they from? I have a scar from the middle of stomach from my ribs down to my pubic bone from being open up five times for bowel resections due to Crohn’s disease. I also have six smaller scars from various drains I’ve needed after my surgeries. I have a smaller scar next to my left eye which I’ve had since I was a baby. I can’t remember what happened or how I got it. I don’t even see it when I look in the mirror anymore.
Can you fake any accents? Yep. I do pretty good Irish, English, kiwi, and American accents. I’m also really good at mimicking people.

Name 2 things you consider yourself to be very bad at. Waking up in a good mood and doing the grocery shopping before we’ve started to reach critical levels of food shortage in the house. Thank Christ, I’ve discovered Woolworths Click and Collect.
If you could have picked your own name, what would it be? Mickayla- which is why I named my daughter that. Luckily she turned out to be my Mini-Me.
Who is your animated boyfriend? (Like a book boyfriend, but a cartoon/animated one.) Will E. Coyote.
Be honest, how often do you wash your hair? Three to four times a week. It’s not good to wash your hair very day.
Is your hair color real or chemically engineered? Absolutely chemically engineered. I’m not sure what my natural colour is anymore.

Are you a person who makes their bed in the morning, or do you not see much point? No way. Getting out of it is hard enough without having to make it as well.
Do you like to sing in the shower? Yep, every day. Much to my kid’s annoyance.

What comes first, Chicken or Egg? Egg. The chicken that hatched was obviously a mutation of another avian creature.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be? Snark: The true story of the Queen of Sarcasm.
If you were a Star Trek® [or Star Wars® ] character, which one would it be? According to my husband, I’m C-3PO. Almost human, but not quite emotional enough to remove all doubt.
Do you have quirky habits?  Secret Talents? I have a really good memory. I can meet you once and then remember random details about you like your kids names, where you went to school etc. Secret Talent- I have a methodical brain that can organise everything at lightning speed. Analytical decision making is not a problem for me and it drives my family nuts.

What’s your favorite love story? (movie or book)? Movie- Sweet Home Alabama, although I have a huge soft spot for The Longest Ride. Book- The Signal Bend series by Susan Fanetti.

What’s your favorite line from any movie? Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.” Dead Poets Society and “Hope. It is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective. A lot of hope is dangerous. A spark is fine, as long as it’s contained.”

The Hunger Games

Just like “Everybody Wang Chung tonight!”, what action would your name be if it were a verb? I haven’t a clue what this question means 🙂

What are your favorite hobbies? I spend my free time reading, walking my dogs through national parks, camping, fishing, acting as spotter while we drag our kids around behind the boat on their kneeboards and tubes. I also enjoy four-wheel-driving, going for rides on the back of my hubby’s Harley (I will ride my own one day!!), and taking spontaneous trips away for the weekend. Basically anything outdoorsy where I can get in touch with nature.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Yes. I knew my husband was the one for me when I meet him when I was 14. I used to doodle Mrs. Kylie Hillman on my school books. Although, we didn’t get together until just before I turned 18—he was slow on the uptake lol.

If you were to create a slogan for your life, what would it be? (Example: Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow, we all die.) It is what it is; no point stressing the small stuff. I’m getting that tattooed on my wrist.
How many licks does it take to get to the middle of a tootsie pop? Not a clue, never had one.
My favorite unusual food combination is: Cooked two minute noodles mixed with five eggs, grated cheese, and the seasoning packet, then cooked as an omelette.

What childish things do you still do as adult? I still roll my eyes at my father, and he still threatens to clip my ear.
What punctuation mark best describes your personality? Why? Exclamation mark. Everything I say and do needs to be punctuated by more than a period in my mind 🙂

If you were a spy what would your alias be? Malevolent Minx. I’d use the male susceptibility to a nice pair of legs against them on the regular, plus I like the idea of getting payback because whatever side I’m spying for would be the good side, naturally.

What is your favorite Disney tune? Beauty and the Beast
Lip synching or Karaoke-ing? Karaoke-ing. I fancy myself to be the next Lana Del Rey.
Choose a movie title for the story of your life. The Pursuit of Happiness.

What do you want your tombstone to say? She came; she cared; she left you full of love.

What literary character do you feel is most like you? Lilli from The Signal Bend series. Or Beth from Jamie Begley’s Last Riders series.

Shoes or Handbags? Impossible choice. Both are the only things that I still fit no matter how up and down my weight goes.
Why isn’t the number 11 pronounced as onety one? Because the English language is made up of more exceptions than rules. This was done simply to confuse us and make homework that much more difficult for parents when their children ask questions like that.
What was the best thing before sliced bread? Caffeine. Definitely has to be caffeine.

If I came to your home and looked inside the refrigerator, what would I find? Lots of fresh veggies and fruit. Chocolate. Juice. Milk. Yoghurt…and probably something that my kids have spilled and left for me to clean up.

Do you know what an Eskimo Brother/Sister is?  If so, how many do you have?  Yep! And too many to count because my hubby was an absolute manwhore in our circle before we became official 😉

Kylie, you’ve been great answering these questions.  Let’s hear about your current and upcoming projects.

Tell us about your current release or upcoming project(s).

At the moment, I’ve just celebrated the release of the 3rd book on my Black Shamrocks MC series, Seeking Redemption. My MC is set in Australia and doesn’t follow your usual alpha chases unwilling female and conquers her with strong words, a big dick, and multiple orgasms routine. I’m very anti-establishment so I hope that shines through. I also like to comment on social issues such as domestic violence, abuse, drug addiction, PTSD, and parental alienation—just to name a few—intertwined with epic love and lots of hope. Which is apt considering that I feel hope and love is what separates us from animals.

I’m also currently working on two short stories for upcoming ‘secret squirrel’ anthologies, both of which will follow my Black Shamrocks MC. I’m currently finalising my first standalone called Brawl. It is a departure from my MC and a tiny bit taboo with a much older MMA fighter and a younger girl. Exploring issues of family neglect and how it affects individual maturity, breaking the norms of society to get what YOU need from your life, and making the most of a shitty situation. Brawl is coming out in May.

After that, I’ll be finishing the final two installments of my Black Shamrocks MC with book four, Tempting Fate, due in July and the final book, Finding Nirvana, due out of 30th September.

Kylie Hillman is an Australian author.

Wife to a Harley-riding, boating and fishing, four-wheel driving, underground mining quintessential Aussie bloke.

Mum to two crazy, adorable, and original kids.

Crohn’s Disease sufferer and awareness campaigner.

She’s also an avid tea drinker, a connoisseur of 80s/90s rock music, and is known for lacing everything she says with sarcasm and inappropriate innuendo.

Formerly working in finance, she was forced to reevaluate her plans for her life when severe Crohn’s Disease brought her corporate career to a screeching halt. Restarting her childhood hobbies of writing and reading to alleviate the monotony of being sick and housebound, she found her calling and is enjoying life to the max. A typical day is now spent in the “real” world where she hangs out with her awesome family and “book” world where she gets to chill with her fictional characters.

Kylie writes the books she wants to read. A lover of strong men who aren’t perfect and aren’t afraid to admit it, straight-talking women who embrace their vulnerabilities, and real life gritty stories, she hopes these themes shine through her writing. An avid reader of all genres, Kylie hopes to release books that keep the reader on the edge of their seat—be it with suspense, romance, or laughter.
